Drying begins
A clear plan protects the property.
For homeowners and property managers
Stop the water source if it is safe to do so. Avoid rooms with electrical hazards or contaminated water. Take photos before moving affected belongings, then call for an assessment. The right drying plan depends on what got wet and how long the water has been there.

Standing water and unsalvageable materials are addressed while unaffected areas are protected.
Equipment is placed according to site conditions and progress is tracked with moisture readings.
Once drying goals are met, Renova coordinates repairs through the final walkthrough.

Homeowner questions
Every loss is different. These answers explain the first steps and Renova’s role in the restoration and insurance process.
For policy questions, see the Texas Department of Insurance claim guide.
Call Renova — 24/7If it is safe, stop the water source and keep people away from electrical hazards or contaminated water. Take photos or video, move items that can be moved safely, and call Renova for an assessment. If you plan to file an insurance claim, notify your insurer promptly and keep receipts for emergency expenses.
For active water damage, address immediate safety and stop further damage first. You can call Renova to assess and begin needed mitigation, and contact your insurance company as soon as you can to report the loss. You do not need to wait for a coverage decision to ask what immediate steps are needed.
You file the claim and speak with your insurance company about your policy and coverage. Renova handles the restoration work and can provide job-site photos, moisture readings, drying records and a work scope for you or the adjuster to review. We can discuss the repair scope with the adjuster, but we do not decide coverage or promise that a claim will be paid.
First, document the damage and report the loss to your insurer. The insurer may assign an adjuster to review the damage and your policy. Renova can assess the property, perform authorized emergency mitigation and document the work. After the adjuster reviews the loss, you and the insurer discuss the estimate and coverage decision. If repairs are approved or you choose to proceed, we agree on the reconstruction scope and payment terms before work is scheduled.
You can ask your insurer about its preferred contractor program, but you can select the contractor you want. Confirm your policy, deductible and payment arrangements with the insurer, and read the contractor’s scope before signing.
Coverage depends on the cause of the water, your policy and the insurer’s decision. A sudden plumbing leak and water entering from outside may be treated differently. We document what we observe; your insurer or a licensed insurance professional can answer coverage questions.
The timeline depends on the amount of water, the materials affected and measured drying progress. After the assessment, we explain the next steps and update you as conditions change. Reconstruction is scoped separately after the damage and drying needs are clear.
